Wait for serious the sjws got in a tizzy over a female ass in spandex? That's what spandex does and honestly it probably breathes great when she's zipping around. Everyone likes to show off dat ass when they got a nice booty.

Do you even get to see other people's victory poses? If not, why does it even matter? Hell you KNOW people are going to use graphic changers to have all the female (or all period) the characters fully nude. Have you SEEN the amount of porn Overwatch has that uses modified versions of the original models?

On the flip side, I can see the argument that it's a bit sexualized, which I'd understand if the game wasn't rated T.

My biggest beef is that she has like a 6-inch torso and 7-foot legs. It's like she's all crack and no thack.

@Nowea: You get to see the victory poses of the winning team for about 2 seconds after the game is over before it cuts to the Play of the Game montage. To be honest, until this controversy, I personally didn't put much thought into them.

I don't intend for this to be a rant because I personally hate Tracer (well, more accurately people killing me as Tracer) and would love to never see any of her victory poses, if at all possible. I didn't want to get caught up in the bashing or witch-hunting that happens on the Overwatch forums because it's a foolish thing to do, and the complaints against the booty aren't 100% incorrect. but I do have my own opinions on the matter, mostly because I tend to oppose censorship. And this is a pretty safe place to post things like this, so I'll go ahead and do it here.

I think if Blizzard wanted to remove this pose from the game because it went against the artistic vision they envisioned for Tracer, then they would have simply removed it from the game without mention OR included that reason in Kaplan's original post about its removal. This suggests to me that they are taking advantage of the fact that the game is in closed beta to try to content control their art so it's as non-offensive as possible on launch, which is totally within their rights, but still a little bit sad. Maybe the whole "Hush Tyrande" fiasco got under ol' Tigole's skin. Beats me.

On top of that, I personally disagree that the pose was "jarringly out of character" for Tracer. She's fun, crazy, "95% spunk". And although I fear that reducing the character design to this single idea is a dreadfully one-dimensional way to portray a character (and don't get me wrong, Overwatch character design is stereotypical and one-dimensional in a charming way), it always appeared to me that the little crooked hip/looking over the shoulder pose DID suggest a teasing playfulness, paired with a healthy dose of sexiness. If anything, the problem here is that she's wearing Superhero-esque, aerodynamic latex pants that define her features.

"BUT WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN!?!?!??!!1!?". Overwatch is a Teen rated shooter. If your preteens are playing it, maybe the problem is you. The game is mostly child-friendly, but it is not aimed at children in the first place. And I guarantee you, when a 7-year-old sees Tracer's "Over the Shoulder", her thoughts aren't going to be directed on how phat dat ass is. I understand that the argument is more about a pervasive cultural suggestions created by video game media than this particular instance, but I digress.

I guess the crux of the matter is that it bothers me that all of the concern about promoting an unrealistic body image (which this is a pretty tame example of, outside of her ridiculously long and slender legs) is spilling over and censoring certain artistic instances of human (particularly female) sexuality. To the point that it's promoting the idea that celebrating your sexuality is a negative thing when in reality it's possibly the most human thing of all. I think characters that are confident and comfortable with their sexuality usually come off as powerful and in control, rather than weak or objectified, personally. And yes, I know Widowmaker is still a heavily sexual character in Overwatch, but this treatment effectively reduces sexuality to a trope. Because Widowmaker is a femme fatale seductress assassin, with all this raw sexual imagery bundled in one lady, other characters should avoid sexuality?

Honestly, I'd much rather see more MANSERVICE in games, if it's an issue of equality. Give me a shirtless Hanzo winking at me or something. Or Soldier with a pelvic thrust. Never mind the fact that turret-form Bastion is basically a giant metal dong. There's a popular narrative that you wouldn't see GENJI or MCCREE in Tracer's pose and that makes it wrong/bad... but it feels like apples and oranges. There are sexuality flaunting poses for men, that wouldn't really work with women, and vice versa.

Well I agree with you and think the people that brought this up and the people that changed it are extremely spineless Californians. I saw the pose and had no reaction. Not jarring in any way. I thought the entire original post was confusing.

Does anyone remember the female announcer in Unreal Tournament? (bad example) but there was no ass, and that was WAY more uncomfortable to play in front of my parents than I assume this is.

The whole thing is just such disappointingly Basic Bitch, milquetoast bullshit.
